What stood out to you as you read the Key Box on pages 40-41 of the study guide?

So much stood out to me!

First, the peace that we have knowing that the Holy Spirit is our constant companion. How reassuring is that!

It was also interesting to me how Nehemiah inspected the walls and then he examined the gates, which were the entry points for the enemy, and how this is just how the Holy Spirit inspects the gates in our lives. It got me thinking about any broken gates in my life, and how the Holy Spirit can inspect those areas and then repair them.

I kept thinking about Nehemiah representing the Holy Spirit, inspecting the broken gates, and walls in my life.  Nehemiah surveyed the damage at night, so he could be thorough, and discreet.  It comforts me to know that the Holy Spirit is surveying my heart even in seasons of spiritual darkness.  Even when my eyes are closed to his working, he's moving in me, seeing my damaged heart, and planning a wonderful, detailed process to restore me.  How gracious, and gentle!
